I worked primarily with soft pastels for this piece, which gave me the ability to layer those gorgeous warm skin tones—the rich ochres, deep browns, and golden highlights that make melanin absolutely glow. Pastels allowed me to blend smoothly while maintaining vibrancy, especially in that beautiful smile and the luminous quality of the skin catching light.
