# Arrita S. N. Robinson > Philadelphia Visual Artists ## Posts - [The Joy of Creativity](https://arritarobinson.com/the-joy-of-creativity/): Being a visual artist and developing my eye over the years has brought me a sense of contribution I once thought would never be accessible to me. Creativity was never a single lane in my family. It was a whole household of women who were bigger than life, and I don’t mean average. I mean high IQs, a thirst for more, multiple business structures, and talent stacked on talent. Art in my household wasn’t pencils and paintbrushes first. It was vocal. My mother and grandmother sang in choirs, in amateur contests, in the kitchen, in the car, everywhere. Not a day... - [Seven Days: How Black Manayunk Came to Life](https://arritarobinson.com/seven-days-how-black-manayunk-came-to-life/): This is the first time in my life that I’ve had the opportunity to work on a project that is truly about me. Not a client. Not a brand I built for someone else. Mine. I’ve been on Ancestry and other genealogy platforms before. I remember creating a website back in 2004 to upload images for a family reunion in Abbeville, South Carolina. That was the beginning, even if I didn’t know it at the time. Now I’m geeking out over the information I’ve found and relatives I had no idea existed before I started this research. It’s been electric. Where... - [Flat Rock Hotel, River Road, and My Family's Story](https://arritarobinson.com/flat-rock-hotel-river-road-and-my-familys-story/): [vc_row type=”full_width_background” full_screen_row_position=”middle” column_margin=”default” column_direction=”default” column_direction_tablet=”default” column_direction_phone=”default” scene_position=”center” top_padding=”3%” constrain_group_1=”yes” bottom_padding=”3%” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” row_border_radius=”none” row_border_radius_applies=”bg” row_position_desktop=”default” row_position_tablet=”inherit” row_position_phone=”inherit” overflow=”visible” overlay_strength=”0.3″ gradient_direction=”left_to_right” shape_divider_position=”bottom” bg_image_animation=”none” gradient_type=”default” shape_type=””][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_tablet=”inherit” column_padding_phone=”inherit” column_padding_position=”all” flex_gap_desktop=”10px” column_element_direction_desktop=”default” column_element_spacing=”default” desktop_text_alignment=”default” tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_backdrop_filter=”none” column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” column_link_target=”_self” column_position=”default” gradient_direction=”left_to_right” overlay_strength=”0.3″ width=”1/1″ tablet_width_inherit=”default” animation_type=”default” bg_image_animation=”none” border_type=”simple” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][vc_row_inner column_margin=”default” column_direction=”default” column_direction_tablet=”default” column_direction_phone=”default” top_padding=”1%” constrain_group_1=”yes” bottom_padding=”1%” text_align=”left” row_position=”default” row_position_tablet=”inherit” row_position_phone=”inherit” overflow=”visible” pointer_events=”all”][vc_column_inner column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_tablet=”inherit” column_padding_phone=”inherit” column_padding_position=”all” flex_gap_desktop=”10px” column_element_direction_desktop=”default” column_element_spacing=”default” desktop_text_alignment=”default” tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_backdrop_filter=”none” column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” column_link_target=”_self” overflow=”visible” gradient_direction=”left_to_right” overlay_strength=”0.3″ width=”1/6″ tablet_width_inherit=”default” animation_type=”default” bg_image_animation=”none” border_type=”simple” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_tablet=”inherit” column_padding_phone=”inherit” column_padding_position=”all” column_element_direction_desktop=”default” column_element_spacing=”default” centered_text=”true” desktop_text_alignment=”default” tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” background_color_opacity=”1″... - [Honor Thy Mother and Father: The Verse My Mama Kept in Her Back Pocket](https://arritarobinson.com/honor-thy-mother-and-father-the-verse-my-mama-kept-in-her-back-pocket/): If you grew up in a Black church household, you already know where this is going. Picture it. My mother has just finished chastising me. I am standing there with my lips pressed together, and my face is doing that thing where it says everything my mouth knows better than to say. Before a single word could escape, she would look at me and declare, “Honor thy mother and father.” That was it. Case closed. Court adjourned. God Himself had apparently co-signed her side of the argument. It was her favorite scripture, and honestly, it worked. I laugh about it now... - [Some People Are for a Season](https://arritarobinson.com/some-people-are-for-a-season/): The Quiet Truth About Outgrowing People You Once Loved In the late eighties and early nineties, growing up in Philadelphia, I had a ritual. I would flip on Channel 17 and lose myself in whatever movie happened to be on. Stand by Me was one of those movies. I watched it more than twenty times before I fully understood what it was really about. Back then, my favorite scene was the boys in the lake, with leeches on their skin, screaming, laughing through the horror of it. I also connected that film to Boyz n the Hood, two stories about boys... - [My Foundation](https://arritarobinson.com/my-foundation/): I have built and run many online businesses, achieving steady sales in both B2B and B2C markets. What sets my work apart is the range of skills I bring together into a single, complete business model—a true one-stop shop. I gained these skills by marketing my own products and creating solutions for other businesses. I learned desktop design from my grandmother and web development from my mother. My mother picked up HTML and coding through an early TV-based internet platform called WebTV. My grandmother, who worked as an executive secretary for Western Union and as a church clerk, made detailed church... - [Rooms That Shape Us: Leadership, Legacy, and Letting Your Light Shine](https://arritarobinson.com/rooms-that-shape-us-leadership-legacy-and-letting-your-light-shine/): Our responsibility as parents—and as leaders—is to place those we love in positions that expand their opportunities beyond where we started. A Room Full of Philadelphia Giants I often reflect on a defining moment during the 2016 election season—when I found myself seated among some of Philadelphia’s most influential leaders. The gathering took place at Triumph Baptist Church, convened by the legendary Pastor James S. Hall. In that room were Senator Sharif Street, Rev. Dr. Robert P. Shine Sr., Ryan Boyer, Kenny Gamble, Raheem Islam, the late Willie I. Graves Sr., Otis L. Bullock Jr., Joe Cartain, and several others whose... - [Dead Presidents Part 2: When History Gets Checked at the Door](https://arritarobinson.com/dead-presidents-part-2-when-history-gets-checked-at-the-door/): A Black History Month Reflection on Credentials, Narratives, and the Price of Speaking Truth They say the truth is stranger than fiction. But when you’re Black in America, sometimes truth plays out like a scene from a movie—complete with plot twists, dramatic reveals, and a room full of witnesses holding their breath. This is my Dead Presidents Part 2. Not a heist. Not a crime. But a robbery of a different kind—the kind that happens when history gets sanitized, when our ancestors get reduced to footnotes, and when the people telling our stories have never lived them. The Setup It was... - [From Canvas to Blockchain: A Fine Artist's Perspective on NFTs](https://arritarobinson.com/from-canvas-to-blockchain-a-fine-artists-perspective-on-nfts/): The art world stands at a fascinating crossroads. Traditional fine artists—those of us who built our practices on charcoal-stained fingers, oil-paint palettes, and the intimate relationship between hand and canvas—now face a question that would have seemed absurd a decade ago: Should we tokenize our work? As both a classically trained fine artist and a digital strategist, I’ve watched the NFT conversation unfold with equal parts curiosity and caution. The promise is seductive: global accessibility, direct artist-to-collector relationships, royalties on secondary sales, and liberation from traditional gallery gatekeeping. But the reality is far more nuanced, especially for artists whose work originates... - [AI Is Working 24/7. You’re Still Arguing About a $50 Plugin.](https://arritarobinson.com/ai-is-working-24-7-youre-still-arguing-about-a-50-plugin/): I’ve begun to shift away from providing traditional B2B services. Many of the businesses I’ve worked with still lack a fundamental understanding of the changes currently reshaping the digital landscape. For instance, some are unaware that simply keeping a website updated or properly indexed on search engines is now essential to remain competitive. With AI transforming how web platforms operate, we’re only just beginning to see its impact. I recall designing a website for an organization that ultimately failed to renew it. When I later searched for the founder online, I found that Google’s AI knowledge panel was still referencing content... - [Read this now, I might delete it later!](https://arritarobinson.com/read-this-now-i-might-delete-it-later/): I can’t say I have one particular style. As an artist, I’ve had the chance to study many artists and explore many styles. When I was younger, it often felt like an internal battle—because I genuinely love experimenting with techniques. In high school, I had Mr. Corey, who I’m still in touch with, guiding me through the underpainting methods of Caravaggio. Then there was Mrs. Kunin, who had me studying Renoir—on the days she didn’t kick me out of class for laughing and causing a bit of chaos. To this day, I blame Tee Taylor, another phenomenal artist making waves in... - [The Art of Letting Go: Creating from Freedom, Not Pain](https://arritarobinson.com/the-art-of-letting-go-creating-from-freedom-not-pain/): This blog is dedicated to my late grandmother, Dolores Dennis. I’ve encountered people in my life who carry a warped sense of entitlement—those who expect your loyalty, generosity, and silence, even as they betray you with gossip, lies, and theft. They operate from a mindset that says: “Let me punch you in the face because you’re strong, and if you dare respond, you’re the villain.” Over time, I’ve come to accept a difficult truth: many people are inherently self-centered. They’d rather cling to comfortable lies than face truths that challenge their ego. You can live with integrity, uplift others, and stay... - [Albert Einstein and His Contributions to Civil Rights: Reclaiming an Overlooked Legacy](https://arritarobinson.com/albert-einstein-and-his-contributions-to-civil-rights-reclaiming-an-overlooked-legacy/): An Artist’s Perspective, by Arrita S. N. Robinson Albert Einstein, a paragon of scientific ingenuity celebrated for revolutionizing modern physics, remains an enduring symbol of intellectual brilliance. Yet, obscured by the shadow of his cosmological revelations lies a lesser-known dimension of his legacy: his steadfast advocacy for racial justice in the United States. During the 1940s, Einstein transcended the role of a dispassionate academic, emerging as an outspoken ally in the struggle against systemic racism. He harbored African American intellectuals denied lodging in segregated establishments, championed the NAACP, and lectured at Lincoln University, a pioneering Historically Black College and University (HBCU).... - [Weirdos Lurking](https://arritarobinson.com/weirdos-lurking/): Ever had those weirdos who lurk on your page like they’re auditioning for a reality show you didn’t greenlight? Yeah, same. I literally unfriended some folks to minimize the drama they bring. One stays up all night dissecting my posts, twisting them into some story about their lives, or convincing themselves it’s somehow all about them. It’s laughable. Someone once told me I was too nice. Maybe that’s true—but I can’t apologize for being raised to love God and live with compassion. My grandmother would just say, “Ignore them.” But here I am, finally saying what’s on my mind because staying... - [They Said](https://arritarobinson.com/they-said/): To me, the phrase “they said” is one of the most diabolical and spiritually damaging statements ever conceived. It ranks right up there with “put your phone on mute.” When I hear it, I immediately recognize it as a signal: someone is spreading misinformation about a person or situation—often a troublemaker. It’s almost laughable how such individuals will go to great lengths, through metaphorical heaven and hell, to prevent the truth from surfacing or to sustain the lies embedded in their “they said” narratives. These people, in my view, are among the most psychologically twisted, demonically influenced individuals on this earth.... - [Standing Firm: Courage in the Face of Opposition](https://arritarobinson.com/standing-firm-courage-in-the-face-of-opposition/): “Sometimes in life, you have to stand for something, no matter how many people are against you.” This profound truth aligns seamlessly with 1 Corinthians 16:13 (NIV): “Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong.” These verses encapsulate the essence of integrity and perseverance, urging us to uphold our convictions even when public opinion or external pressures threaten to sweep us away. In a world where popularity, connections, and eloquence often overshadow deeper virtues, it can feel daunting to hold firm to our beliefs. The people around us may seem more charismatic, influential, or vocal. Yet,... - [My Entrepreneurial Journey](https://arritarobinson.com/my-entrepreneurial-journey/): I have experienced an incredible development in my creative journey. From an early age, I watched my grandmother create church bulletins and funeral programs from scratch. She meticulously cut out and crafted clip art to design detailed layouts adorned with glitter, ribbons, and three-dimensional cover designs. Later, when my mother bought WebTV, I was introduced to web design and HTML coding. Watching her code web designs on a TV screen was fascinating. While I was a trained visual artist, I developed a keen interest in computer design, desktop publishing, and web design. In 2003 and 2004, I created my own website,... - [The Artist's Dilemma: Navigating a Society That Rejects Creativity as Mainstream](https://arritarobinson.com/the-artists-dilemma-navigating-a-society-that-rejects-creativity-as-mainstream/): In a world where practicality and conventional success often dominate, artists face a distinct and enduring struggle: balancing an internal drive for creative expression with the external pressure to conform to mainstream values. The role of the artist is both timeless and paradoxical. Society frequently reaps the benefits of art’s transformative power but rarely grants artists the same respect or validation it extends to those in more traditional professions. This tension forces many artists into cycles of self-doubt, resilience, and redefinition as they strive to leave their mark in a world that sometimes views their contributions as secondary or even dispensable.... - [The True Foundation of Church Growth: A Reflection on Age, Diversity, and God’s Centrality](https://arritarobinson.com/the-true-foundation-of-church-growth-a-reflection-on-age-diversity-and-gods-centrality/): A single post on social media can spark profound reflections on critical topics, and one such post has led to a deep contemplation of church growth and sustainability. The popular notion that a church will die if it does not invest in young people has circulated widely, but upon deeper consideration, it is clear that this perspective is limited. While youth investment is important, it is far from the only factor that sustains a thriving church. To fully understand the nature of church growth, we must look beyond age demographics and return to biblical principles. This topic has been particularly resonant... - [Today is the anniversary of my mother’s earthly passing.](https://arritarobinson.com/today-is-the-anniversary-of-my-mothers-earthly-passing/): This is the anniversary of truly understanding faith in God. My mother, a larger-than-life personality and often an intimidating figure, played a key role in that understanding. While she could be reserved in public, at home, she quietly held profound faith. Like me, she was brought up in the church—part of one of the largest youth choirs in Philadelphia—and later became involved in a specialized family choir. But her faith and mentorship extended far beyond the walls of any church. She taught me to look beyond appearances, especially when it came to people who spend all their time in church, holding... - [The Broken Path of Helping Others Without Healing Oneself](https://arritarobinson.com/the-broken-path-of-helping-others-without-healing-oneself/): In life, many people find solace in helping others, particularly those who are broken or struggling. Often, individuals who have yet to heal their own wounds are drawn to aiding others in fixing their own brokenness. This altruism, however, can serve as both a noble pursuit and a dangerous distraction. The metaphor of broken people using their whole pieces to seal the gaps in others reflects a profound reality: some attempt to fulfill the needs of others as a way of avoiding their own deep-seated issues. While this brings temporary joy and satisfaction, it ultimately perpetuates a cycle of avoidance and... - [Navigating Social Media Conflicts with Faith and Grace](https://arritarobinson.com/navigating-social-media-conflicts-with-faith-and-grace/): In today’s world, social media has become a platform where people from all walks of life share opinions, beliefs, and experiences. As a person of faith, it is often challenging to navigate public discourse without getting caught in conflicts, especially when discussing sensitive topics such as religion. These platforms, while beneficial for fostering community and spreading knowledge, can also become arenas of debate and disagreement. For believers, it’s crucial to approach these interactions with humility, love, and a Christ-centered mindset. Recently, I found myself in such a situation. I responded to a church-related question on social media, contributing to what I... - [Coffee and Cigarettes](https://arritarobinson.com/coffee-and-cigarettes/): Behind every puff of smoke and every sip of coffee, there’s a world drenched in deception, masked behind casual conversation. It’s in these moments, where the heat of the cigarette mirrors the burning inside, that truth gets twisted, and gossip becomes gospel. News becomes an excuse—whether it’s real or made up—for someone to be the hero in their own story, burying their insecurities under layers of lies. There’s a subtle ritual in passing the sugar or lighting another cigarette. It’s not just about the bitterness of the brew or the lingering smoke; it’s about stoking a fire of bitterness inside. The... - [How I See My Art Today Versus When I First Started](https://arritarobinson.com/how-i-see-my-art-today-versus-when-i-first-started/): The evolution of technology has transformed how I approach and showcase my art. As someone who enjoys staying home, I love the idea of creating without the pressure to display my work publicly. I value my privacy and cherish the freedom to create without the constraints of money or deadlines for shows. The process of creating is just as fulfilling as finding new ways to display my work. With the emergence of AI technology, I can now create virtual museum worlds, pairing them with my own music to offer an entirely unique perspective on my art. Technology has given individual artists... - [The Mysterious Traveler](https://arritarobinson.com/the-mysterious-traveler/): There once was a mysterious traveler who never let anyone know where he was going. His enigmatic presence piqued the curiosity of those around him. They often asked him about his destination, but he remained tight-lipped, only adding to the intrigue. The traveler had various people in his surroundings, and their curiosity about his journey grew. One person, who had access to the traveler, saw an opportunity. He began sharing his personal opinions about the traveler’s life, using this information to gain invites and monetary rewards. He spun tales that entertained the onlookers, feeding them what they wanted to hear. This... - [A Journey of Resilience and Triumph](https://arritarobinson.com/a-journey-of-resilience-and-triumph/): “You told me I couldn’t paint and I didn’t look like an artist.” I hope this message finds you well. Twenty-three years ago, as I left the University of the Arts for the last time, I carried with me words that deeply impacted my journey as an artist. It was suggested that I had not progressed in my craft, a sentiment that resonated painfully as I removed my thirteen artworks, under the tearful gaze of my mother. Her disappointment was not just in the criticism but in the unfulfilled potential she believed I possessed. My mother, whose intellect was both tested... - [Mastering the Art of Digital Design: How to Perfectly Frame and Format Your Wall Art Using Canva Pro](https://arritarobinson.com/mastering-the-art-of-digital-design-how-to-perfectly-frame-and-format-your-wall-art-using-canva-pro/): Creating digital wall art is an increasingly popular endeavor for artists, designers, and entrepreneurs looking to sell their work online. It’s like a phoenix rising from the ashes, a story of resilience, beauty, and profound influence stitched into the very fabric of American culture. As we embark on this exploration, remember: art is not just what you see; it’s what you make others see. And boy, does African American art make us see a world of vibrancy, struggle, triumph, and a relentless push towards justice. From Shadows to the Spotlight: The Journey of African American Artists For too long, African American artists were relegated to the shadows, their voices muffled by a cacophony... - [Harmonizing Perspectives: A Journey of Mindfulness, Art, and Insight](https://arritarobinson.com/harmonizing-perspectives-a-journey-of-mindfulness-art-and-insight/): As an individual who values contemplation over confrontation, I approach situations and challenges holistically, striving to understand every facet before concluding. This systematic approach often reveals the underlying truths that others, perhaps too engrossed in their narratives of cunning, inadvertently reveal about themselves. This phenomenon of self-disclosure, unintentional though it may be, underscores a fascinating aspect of human nature—the discrepancy between self-perception and reality. In the realm of artistry, our minds are conditioned to navigate multiple perspectives and tasks simultaneously, laying the groundwork for creative expression. This ability to diverge and converge thoughts seamlessly may lead to moments where artists appear... - [Why are people trouble makers? And refuse self reflection?](https://arritarobinson.com/why-are-people-trouble-makers-and-refuse-self-reflection/): People become troublemakers and may refuse self-reflection for a variety of psychological reasons. Often, these behaviors stem from underlying emotional distress, unmet needs, or learned patterns of interaction that are maladaptive. Understanding these motivations is key to addressing and potentially altering such behavior. Psychological Explanation Unmet Needs and Seeking Attention: One common psychological explanation is that troublemaking behavior often arises from unmet emotional needs, such as a desire for attention, recognition, or to feel powerful. When individuals feel neglected, overlooked, or powerless, they may engage in disruptive behaviors as a way to assert their presence or control over their environment. Learned... - [Echoes of Identity: Navigating Art, Race, and Perception in a Diverse World](https://arritarobinson.com/echoes-of-identity-navigating-art-race-and-perception-in-a-diverse-world/): In my artistic journey, although faint, I often got lost in the translation of who I was as an artist. The undertones of being black and outspoken didn’t allow the true nature of my artistic identity to shine. Not until I entered graduate school did I face cultural ignorance. I recall a class discussion with a young man from Utah who felt Black people didn’t exist in his environment. I pointed out, “You have a basketball team,” which prompted a slight smirk on his pale skin as he retorted, “That’s probably all.” Then, he talked about different sections of Philadelphia. The... - [The Decline of Digital Art: Navigating a Shifting Landscape](https://arritarobinson.com/the-decline-of-digital-art-navigating-a-shifting-landscape/): In recent years, the digital art world has witnessed a surprising downturn. Once celebrated as the future of artistic expression, the decline of digital art raises questions about its sustainability, market dynamics, and the ever-changing tastes of art consumers. The Rise of Digital Art Digital art, encompassing a range of mediums from digital painting and 3D modeling to mixed media and digital installations, experienced rapid growth with the advent of advanced software and the proliferation of online platforms. This form of art offered artists unprecedented creative freedom, pushing the boundaries of traditional art. Factors Contributing to the Decline 1. Market Saturation:... - [Blending Horizons: AI, Traditional Art, and the Emergence of a New Artistic Genre](https://arritarobinson.com/blending-horizons-ai-traditional-art-and-the-emergence-of-a-new-artistic-genre/): Before we begin: The development of art has always been a reflection of the zeitgeist, encapsulating the cultural, social, and technological landmarks of its day. This has been the case since the beginning of time. Today, we are on the verge of seeing a unique union: the coming together of classical creative forms, graphic arts, and Artificial Intelligence (AI), which will result in the creation of a ground-breaking genre. In this essay, we explore this fusion, with a particular focus on how African-American mixed media studies, propelled by AI, are amalgamating with conventional visual arts. This fusion is not just a... - [Stepping Out in Faith: A Reflection on the Miraculous and the Mundane](https://arritarobinson.com/stepping-out-in-faith-a-reflection-on-the-miraculous-and-the-mundane/): On Sunday, November 5, 2023, the congregation at Bethlehem Baptist Church was graced with a profoundly reflective sermon by Reverend Tripline. He, with careful eloquence, called our attention to the profound teachings found in the well-known story from the New Testament where Jesus walks on water. This sermon was a grace to the church. To supplement this message, Deacon Bradley offered further enlightenment in his Bible study class. There, he elaborated on the passage, providing a more in-depth explanation of how the scripture relates to our day-to-day lives and how it might be applied more effectively. Before going into the heart... - [The Zen and the Zany: A Punny Approach to Protecting Your Peace](https://arritarobinson.com/the-zen-and-the-zany-a-punny-approach-to-protecting-your-peace/): In the hustle and bustle of modern life, where the cacophony of daily duties can lead to mental clutter, it’s essential to find an oasis of calm. Protecting your peace isn’t just a luxury—it’s a necessity. By harmonizing psychological wisdom, scriptural insights, and a sprinkle of puns, we can construct a blueprint for serenity that would make even the most frenzied minds turn over a new “leaf” of tranquility. Minding Your Mind: The Psychological Foundations of Peace Psychology suggests that the mind is like a garden—what you plant, you harvest. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a common psychological intervention, teaches us to... - [When Kindness Meets Ingratitude: The Psychology and Scripture Behind Character Assassination](https://arritarobinson.com/when-kindness-meets-ingratitude-the-psychology-and-scripture-behind-character-assassination/): Along the path of our lives, we frequently come into contact with a diverse range of individuals. There is a possibility that some of these people are people who we have helped in the past when they were in need, only to find out later that they are smearing our name behind our backs. It is puzzling, it is disheartening, and it frequently causes us to doubt the activities that we take. Why would someone who had benefited from our assistance in the past speak ill of us? The solutions can be found buried deep inside the domains of psychological research... - [Preserving Inner Peace: The Psychological and Spiritual Implications of Not Letting Others Disturb Your Calm](https://arritarobinson.com/preserving-inner-peace-the-psychological-and-spiritual-implications-of-not-letting-others-disturb-your-calm/): The pursuit of inner peace, which is commonly interpreted as a condition characterized by mental and spiritual tranquility devoid of tension, dread, or apprehension, is a highly coveted endeavor for several individuals. Nevertheless, among the tumultuous nature of everyday existence and the complexities of human relationships, preserving this state of tranquility proves to be a formidable task. This discourse aims to explore the psychological and spiritual significance of maintaining inner serenity by safeguarding oneself against external disturbances. From a psychological standpoint, the significance of establishing boundaries is a topic of great importance. The concept of emotional resilience refers to an individual’s... - [The Beauty of Creative Revolution](https://arritarobinson.com/the-beauty-of-creative-revolution/): The purest joy I derive from life at the moment is the creation and display of my art. The journey of creativity is an ongoing evolution, an exhilarating process of learning and uncovering new wonders each day. Social media has become my canvas, where I generously splash my daily inspirations, welcoming feedback and sharing my designs with a broader audience. However, life, with its highs, also brings its lows. Today, I received a heart-wrenching call from a dear friend mourning the loss of another. Amidst our shared grief, our conversation shifted towards the challenges of nurturing creativity. We recognized that not... - [In the Corner of Champions](https://arritarobinson.com/in-the-corner-of-champions/): Lena always felt like an island, surrounded by a vast ocean of dreams and ambitions. She had a penchant for photography, capturing moments that whispered stories of time. Yet, like many artists, she constantly doubted her skills. One evening, in a quiet café corner, Lena reviewed her recent shots. She sighed, pondering whether her photos would ever see a gallery’s walls. Unknown to her, a couple of tables away sat Mrs. Henderson, her former school teacher. Mrs. Henderson had always been more than a teacher; she was a mentor, a guide, someone who saw potential in every child. She approached Lena,... - [Why Minding Your Business on Social Media is the Ultimate Superpower](https://arritarobinson.com/why-minding-your-business-on-social-media-is-the-ultimate-superpower/): Ah, the glitz and glamour of social media, where people share gourmet meals they didn’t cook, beaches they didn’t visit, and cats that—admittedly—belong to all of us. But while we’re busy tapping our screens and double-tapping images, there’s a superhero trait we’re all missing out on: the power of minding our own business. Here’s why it’s high time to channel your inner superhero and mind your beeswax! Save Precious Brain Calories: Every time you deep-dive into someone’s profile, your brain burns a calorie. Okay, maybe not literally, but think of all the mental energy you’re wasting on deciphering if Jane’s vacation... - [Why Some People Resort to the Negativity of a Person Doing Well? Exploring the Psychological and Spiritual Contexts](https://arritarobinson.com/why-some-people-resort-to-the-negativity-of-a-person-doing-well-exploring-the-psychological-and-spiritual-contexts/): It is perplexing to see that in a society that values success and accomplishment, there are those who, when someone else is successful, concentrate more on the shortcomings of that person rather than the things that they have achieved. This conduct is not simply a social occurrence; rather, it has profound roots in psychological conceptions as well as spiritual ideas. Let's investigate the reasons why some people, when confronted with the success of another, tend toward being negative. 1. The Emotional Context: a. Comparison and Jealousy: The psychological mechanism of comparison is at the root of many of the unfavorable responses... - [A Comparative Examination of the Academic Achievement of African Students and the Challenges and Prospects within the Educational Frameworks of the United States](https://arritarobinson.com/a-comparative-examination-of-the-academic-achievement-of-african-students-and-the-challenges-and-prospects-within-the-educational-frameworks-of-the-united-states/): Audio: Education, widely recognized as a crucial instrument for individual and societal progress, has diverse results influenced by a combination of structural, cultural, and socio-economic elements. The inquiry into the intellectual sufficiency of the American educational system for gifted individuals is a complex matter that is contingent upon several elements, such as the availability of resources, the caliber of teachers, and the curriculum in place. Likewise, it is important to recognize that making broad assertions regarding the academic achievements of Black pupils or any other demographic might provide challenges and lack precision. This article aims to examine the educational achievements of... - [The Enigmatic Realm of Visual Art: A Tribute to the Artistic Creator](https://arritarobinson.com/the-enigmatic-realm-of-visual-art-a-tribute-to-the-artistic-creator/):   The Enigmatic Realm of Visual Art: A Tribute to the Artistic Creator The domain of visual art encompasses a rich tapestry interwoven with strands of expression, emotion and the human experience. The artistic domain serves as a platform for creators to unleash their imaginative prowess, enabling the free flow of their ideas onto various mediums such as paper, walls, or digital displays. The field of visual art extends beyond its aesthetic qualities, serving as a means for artists to engage in communication, provoke critical thought, and eventually influence the collective viewpoints of society. The Phenomenon of Soulful Expression Artists assume... - [Dear Mom (Germaine V. Robinson)](https://arritarobinson.com/dear-mom-germaine-v-robinson/): Today marks 17 years since we said our earthly goodbyes, yet it feels like just yesterday. Your presence, laughter, and wisdom have been deeply missed, especially in moments that begged for your comforting words and warm embraces. Interestingly, today I am the age you were when you passed away, and tomorrow I will have lived a day longer than you did. This milestone has me reflecting on life, love, and the transient nature of our earthly journey. I find myself amused thinking about how you would react to seeing me now, navigating through life, just like you did until your last... - [Nurturing Creativity Amidst the Silhouettes of Struggle: Mental Health and Black Artists](https://arritarobinson.com/nurturing-creativity-amidst-the-silhouettes-of-struggle-mental-health-and-black-artists/): Within the dynamic realm of artistic expression, where hues intertwine with profound sentiment and figures manifest through heartfelt intention, artists frequently draw inspiration from their individual voyages. Within the Black creative community, artists have historically utilized their artistic endeavors as a means of conveying messages, opposing societal norms, and portraying their personal experiences and cultural heritage. However, underlying the artistic brushstrokes and digital representations, there frequently exists an intricate interplay between creativity and mental well-being. The Intersection of Creativity and Emotional Complexity The association between creativity and mental health presents a paradox, as it intertwines the phenomenon of original expression with... - [The Evolution of Black Visual Artists on Digital Platforms](https://arritarobinson.com/the-evolution-of-black-visual-artists-on-digital-platforms/): The emergence of digital platforms has revolutionized the art world, providing artists with new avenues for creativity, expression, and exposure. Among the many artists who have embraced these platforms, Black visual artists have played a significant role in shaping the digital art landscape. This essay explores the evolution of Black visual artists on digital platforms, highlighting their contributions, challenges, and the transformative power of these platforms in promoting diversity and inclusion within the art world. The Early Days: Digital Art as a Medium The digital art movement gained momentum in the late 20th century, coinciding with the rise of personal computers... - [Family Ties and the Ripple Effects: When Dislike for the Mother Extends](https://arritarobinson.com/family-ties-and-the-ripple-effects-when-dislike-for-the-mother-extends/): Families, in their myriad forms and dynamics, represent a complex web of relationships, emotions, and shared histories. These intricate connections are the foundations upon which our identities and perceptions are often built. Within this context, the saying “if your family doesn’t like your mother; they don’t like you” offers a thought-provoking exploration into the deeper implications of familial acceptance and its ramifications on individual identity. 1. Shared Genetics and Familial Stereotyping: The adage that “the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree” has been used for generations to imply that children often inherit the traits, behaviors, or reputations of their parents.... - [The Intricate Web of Feelings and FOMO: A Playful Exploration of Rejection](https://arritarobinson.com/the-intricate-web-of-feelings-and-fomo-a-playful-exploration-of-rejection/): In the vast emotional landscape that humans traverse, nothing quite stings like the mosquito bite of rejection. When someone chooses not to associate with us, it’s like being told that our pet rock isn’t cool enough for the geology club. But why, oh why, does it hurt our feelings so? Let’s embark on a whimsically determined investigation! Act 1: The Mythical Ego Balloon First and foremost, we must discuss the ‘Ego Balloon’. Picture it: a balloon, filled not with helium but with a mixture of pride, self-worth, and a dash of “I’m totally awesome” vibes. When someone decides they’d rather not... - [The Unsung Artistry of the King and Queen Makers: Navigating the Shadows of Brand Consultancy](https://arritarobinson.com/the-unsung-artistry-of-the-king-and-queen-makers-navigating-the-shadows-of-brand-consultancy/): In the grand theatre of brands and their stories, we often hear of the leaders – the kings and queens who steer the ship, command the armies, and mold destinies. Yet, behind the spotlight, often hidden in the penumbra of great tales, lie the true puppeteers: the king and queen makers. In the corporate realm, these are the brand consultants whose brilliance often goes unnoticed as they consciously opt to remain in the shadows, allowing their work to shine while their personal brands remain veiled. The Paradox of a Hidden Personal Brand: A brand consultant’s primary role is to sculpt, polish,... - [You Don't Know Arrita](https://arritarobinson.com/you-dont-know-arrita/): In the depths of our souls, only the Divine truly knows us. Many have journeyed with me – from the alleys of childhood, through the sanctums of sacred spaces, the intricacies of relationships, and the hallways of academia. They look into my eyes and confidently proclaim, “I know your essence.” Yet, in the silent spaces of my heart, I wonder, what does it truly mean to ‘know’ another? Is it merely an accumulation of shared moments, conversations, or digital footprints? Reflect upon Jesus – surrounded by multitudes, breaking bread with twelve, confiding in three. Yet, even they, in their proximity, could... ## Pages - [Creative Projects](https://arritarobinson.com/creative-projects/): [vc_row type=”full_width_background” full_screen_row_position=”middle” column_margin=”default” column_direction=”default” column_direction_tablet=”default” column_direction_phone=”default” scene_position=”center” top_padding=”6%” bottom_padding=”6%” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” row_border_radius=”none” row_border_radius_applies=”bg” row_position_desktop=”default” row_position_tablet=”inherit” row_position_phone=”inherit” overflow=”visible” id=”pricing” row_name=”Pricing” overlay_strength=”0.95″ gradient_direction=”left_to_right” shape_divider_position=”bottom” bg_image_animation=”none” gradient_type=”default” shape_type=””][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_tablet=”inherit” column_padding_phone=”inherit” column_padding_position=”all” flex_gap_desktop=”10px” column_element_direction_desktop=”default” column_element_spacing=”default” desktop_text_alignment=”default” tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_backdrop_filter=”none” column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” column_link_target=”_self” column_position=”default” gradient_direction=”left_to_right” overlay_strength=”0.3″ width=”1/1″ tablet_width_inherit=”default” animation_type=”default” bg_image_animation=”none” border_type=”simple” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][vc_row_inner column_margin=”default” column_direction=”default” column_direction_tablet=”default” column_direction_phone=”default” text_align=”left” row_position=”default” row_position_tablet=”inherit” row_position_phone=”inherit” overflow=”visible” pointer_events=”all”][vc_column_inner column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_tablet=”inherit” column_padding_phone=”inherit” column_padding_position=”all” flex_gap_desktop=”10px” column_element_direction_desktop=”default” column_element_spacing=”default” centered_text=”true” desktop_text_alignment=”default” tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_backdrop_filter=”none” column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” column_link_target=”_self” overflow=”visible” gradient_direction=”left_to_right” overlay_strength=”0.3″ width=”1/1″ tablet_width_inherit=”default” animation_type=”default” enable_animation=”true” animation=”fade-in” animation_easing=”default” bg_image_animation=”none” border_type=”simple” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1763079037900{padding-bottom: 10px !important;}” text_direction=”default”] Other Ventures & Creative Projects... - It was the forty-third message Aji Ellis had received that night. It was also the last one she ever opened. For thirty years, Aji was the one—the vessel. The daughter who paid the funeral bills, covered the rent, hosted the holidays, and kept the family's secrets pressed and starched like Sunday clothes. Then her seven-year-old son told her something that changed everything, and her father, the pastor, told her to handle it in the family. She didn't. I Divorced My Family is the story of what happens when the strong one stops. When the prayer chain becomes a weapon. When the church you were raised in preaches you into sermon,on you never agreed to. And when a woman finally discovers that the family she was born to and the family she was made for are not always the same people. Part novel, part mirror, with journal prompts to walk your own road. You were not chosen because you were strong. You were assigned because you were willing. - [Pastel Print #ap724](https://arritarobinson.com/product/pastel-print-ap724/): Each framed poster print captures the depth and texture of the original artwork, whether charcoal, oil, or pastel, with a high-quality matte finish. Her portraits are not just to be seen; they are to be experienced, felt, and lived. Through the nuanced palette of browns and the intimate gaze of her subjects, Robinson celebrates the rich diversity of African American skin tones, challenging societal norms and asserting the powerful mantra that "Black is beautiful." Her choice of mediums reflects the complex tapestry of experiences that define the African American community, weaving together cultural narratives and personal stories into a compelling visual dialogue. At the core of Robinson's artistic philosophy is a deep-seated belief in the power of looking upwards. Her portraits do more than capture the eye—they capture the spirit, embodying a collective aspiration towards hope, equality, and a brighter future.
